Details : | Group Captain Vipul Singh (21537) was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a pilot in the flying branch on 14 Dec 91. Since 04 Jun 12, he is serving as Chief Instructor (Flying) at a premier Flying Training Establishment. He is a Category 'Pi Qualified Flying Instructor with 4500 hours of flying. He has commanded a Fighter Squadron with credit and served ad Directing Staff at Flying Instructors School. He was a key member of the team that produced new Flying Instructors Schools books. As Joint Director at Air Headquarters, he was responsible for revision of Indian Air Publication. He is an alumni of Australian Staff College and was awarded 'Directing Staff' grading for being the top performer. He has been commended thrice by Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief. He, in all probability, is the most experienced Flying Instructor in the entire Fighter Steam of Indian Air Force with 3400 hours on Kiran, Iskra and HPT aircraft. The present Flying Training Establishment, under him has flown over 16500 hours with nil accidents. He has himself flown over 750 hrs, which has been the maximum flying effort by any pilot at Flying Training Establishment over last two years. One Hundred Twenty trainees have graduated out of this Flying Training Establishment under him. During his tenure, the trainees and Instructors have achieved the best results in all the five Aircrew Examination Board visits, repeatedly outperforming other Flying Training Establishments. During his tenure, three Instructors upgraded to Category 'Pi, four cleared Test Pilot Exam, seven were selected for Staff College, ten achieved Initial Issue of 'Master Green' and over 45 Instructors upgraded to Category 'B'. This Flying Training Establishment was adjudged the 'Best Flying Training Establishment' for the last two years in running and also won the award for 'Best Flight Safety - Fixed Wing' for 2012-13. All this was achieved despite unprecedented rate of change over of Instructors at Flying Training Establishment. The officer has displayed exceptional professionalism, involvement, motivation and leadership throughout his career. He has repeatedly produced outstanding results. Through his personal example, he has taken his trainees and Instructors to a level worth emulation by others. For exceptional devotion to duty, Hon'ble President is pleased to award Vayu Sena Medal (Devotion to Duty) to Group Captain Vipul Singh. |
